George's Drum Shop Events
The Hand Drum Circle

Our hand drum and percussion circle meets every Saturday at 2:00, starting July 12 2008 and continuing through warm weather. The circle meets in the park across from the drum shop and is led by pro hand drum facilitator and author Roland Jackson. All ages, from first day beginners to experienced players are welcome. Please bring your own drum or percussion instrument, but if you don't own one you can use our drums or one of Roland's but we only have so many. You must leave a driver's license, credit card or state ID to check out a drum from our stock and it must be returned before the close of the business day at 6:00. Dancers are welcome also! Circle is cancelled if it's raining hard.

Roland Jackson, our hand drum circle facilitator!
"Drumming is my way of life. The drum has given me so much that I have to give back. Working with children of all ages, especially those with special needs, is a burning passion. I am the founder of De Voyagers Inc., an organization whose mission is to expose youth to the world through drum, dance and the written word.
I've also facilitated drum circles for team building and high risk youth. I'm currently working with the Jembe drum as a healing tool. In the area of wellness, the drum is a powerful tool for healing. With my children's book, Jamari's Drum, I am able to share the power of the drum with the world. In addition to being a master drummer, I also build drums. Being a teaching artist in public schools, drum making is a joyful experience for me and the youth that I work with.
Rhythm unites us all and we all have an important part to play in the polyrhythm of life."
